Jane Holford-Atkin

We’ve learned of the sad passing of our friend Jane Holford-Atkin. Jane was a regular performer at FAF over the last few years, and we’d come to love and admire her songs, both traditional, modern and many of her own compositions and adaptations of poetry, such as from Thomas Hardy. She was a well liked character at club nights, and had in the last few months returned to performing at local folk clubs, including FAF, after some time out with serious ill health. Jane was also a talented artist & sculptor, and had a strong Christian faith. Her friend Gill Punter posted the following on Jane’s Facebook page: “Our lovely, funny, talented, brave friend has now lost her battle with Cancer. She has touched all of our hearts with her songs, poetry, love of nature & her dogs. Her biggest love being The Lord Jesus Christ who she is now at home with, safe in his arms. It has been such a privilege to have known & loved you Jane Holford-Atkin. Forever In our hearts.” Our thoughts go out to Jane’s family and friends, and all who knew her. We shall aim to have a proper commemoration to Jane “when we meet again” after the current troubles have eased. Those of you on Facebook may wish to visit her page by clicking the button below.

Special 20th Anniversary Celebration

FAF was 20 years old last July so we celebrated with a special evening and what a cracking evening it was! Tony did a fab job as MC on a packed night with regulars old and new, a few new faces coming to watch, a special visit from Webbly the guide dog and founder members Paul Mobey (all the way from Birmingham), Richard Bond and Colin Owen and tributes to Jon Davey. There was even bunting and a birthday cake!
